Thorbjørn Olesen Wins Thailand Classic
Thorbjørn Olesen cruised to his seventh DP World Tour title as an exhibition of front running saw him win the 2023 Thailand Classic by four shots.
The DP World Tour returned to Thailand this week for the first time since 2016 as the Asian Swing continues with the Thailand Classic.
Recent winners Daniel Gavins, Antoine Rozner, Thriston Lawrence and Dan Badbury all teed it up alongside Nicolai Højgaard, Robert MacIntyre and Guido Migliozzi, with Rafa Cabrera Bello and Thorbjørn Olesen among those bringing some Ryder Cup class to the field.
Højgaard has enjoyed an excellent start to the 2023 season and will be looking to turn consistency into a third DP World Tour win at Amata Spring Country Club.
He has not missed a cut yet in five appearances this campaign and sealed top tens at the ISPS HANDA Australian Open and in the Rolex Series at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
Meanwhile, Jamie Donaldson’s last DP World Tour victory may have come in 2014 but he has won at Amata Spring since then, lifting the Thailand Golf Championship on the Asian Tour in 2015.
This season he has made all three of his cuts shooting seven-under-par totals of 281 on each occasion.
A proven winner on this track and a man for the big occasion – could this be Donaldson’s week?
