Gary Player won his second of his three Open Championship titles in 1968.
The 97th Open Championship in 1968 welcomed 130 players from across the globe, including nine past champions, as they all hoped to win the Claret Jug.
It would be the South African who would go on to victory at after successfully beating former winners Jack Nicklaus and Bob Charles, who tied for second place.
This was his fifth major of the nine he won during his illustrious career.
